Personality: Shuuhei may seem difficult to approach to some due to his rough appearance. Spiky haired and tatooed, he has scars running down the side of his face and sports a choker and armband. His appearance, nevertheless, clashes with his underlying personality. He is often seen only talking when necessary.

Serious, brave, mature, and calm; Shuuhei’s sense of justice and dislike of violence guide his lifestyle. He is especially loyal to people who share similar ideals. In tight situations, he can think on his feet more rationally than some. However, he does think of women and is known to drink. Perhaps other than if he manages to get drunk enough, you seldom see him express much emotion aside from a stern, fierce, or sometimes serene countenance under normal circumstances.

His talents were recognized early despite coming from the lower class, and he is accustomed to responsibility. Work is serious business to him. While more relaxed around people he socializes with, he is strait-laced when put in charge of something or has a task to accomplish. It appears that his abilities are more visible through his actions, though, since he doesn't always do well on exams. There are also a few people who believe he thinks too much.

Magical companion: Lachlann, a two-headed hellhound. He is midnight black with pale gold stripes along his neck and rib with a scar-like fleck of gold on the left hind leg, 5' tall, and will eventually assume the elements of earth and fire. Lachlann, like Hisagi, is very loyal. However, he is also more playful and sometimes pesters Hisagi when studying.

Conductor:
Basic Form - In its basic form, his conductor is an Umibari -- small, double-edge blade used for bleeding swollen vessels of horses -- that can be placed in his pocket. The handle is black as well as the stripe down the center of the blade. Its edges are silver. It shimmers a deep blue when channeling magic.
Risen Form - In its risen form, the conductor elongates and loses its edge, taking the form of a tekkan (iron sword) shaped like a hachiwari (helmet splitter) where the entire "blade" becomes black. When channeling magic, it shines light blue, it can act as a mild lightning rod, allows him to visualize "shadows" more clearly, and his speed increases by 50%.
Divine Form - The divine form, which he will hardly ever use -- when he reaches that stage -- given he doesn't like fighting, the conductor regains an edge, the handle elongates, and the blade splits to form a sickle yari. Coloring is the same as the basic form. When channeling magic, it shines a very pale blue color. This allows him to utilize teleportation, limited by being able to accurately visualize the final destination. In addition to acting as a lightning rod, the wind surrounding its wielder increase acting as a deterrent for attackers.

Strength: Shinigami. However, he may hold back since he dislikes violence..
Agility: Lesser Shinigami. Shuuhei has decent reflexes and speed.
Vitality: Lesser Shinigami-Shinigami. Shuuhei is able to take a fair amount of damage from trained opponents but it’s not unusual for him to suffer some injuries.
Magical Strength: Awakened Human. He sometimes sees the shadowy outlines and hears the whispers of spirits.
Energy Reserve: Awakened-Realized Human. Shuuhei isn’t able to use spells effectively in real-life situations; he’s still learning.
